Cheesecake Factory burrito chosen as 'Worst Way to Start Your Day'

A watchdog ‘honored’ The Cheesecake Factory on Monday by bestowing its breakfast burrito its 2018 Xtreme Eating Award for ‘Worst Way to Start Your Day.’

The Center for Science in the Public Interest, a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting healthy nutrition, said the burrito earned the ignominious distinction after finding the breakfast meal contained 2,730 calories.

Exceeding well over the recommended intake of calories in a single day (2,000), the CSPI also noted that the burrito contained two days’ worth of sodium (4,630 milligrams) and more than three days’ worth of saturated fat (73 grams).

Wrapped in a warm tortilla, the burrito is ‘filled with scrambled eggs, bacon, chicken chorizo, cheese, crispy potatoes, avocado, peppers and onions, over spicy ranchero sauce’ and served with sour cream, salsa and black beans, according to the CSPI.

The Center has given out the award for the most caloric and unhealthiest meals in the United States since 2007,<a style="font-weight: bold;" class="class" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank" website AJC reported.   

Although this is the first time the restaurant has taken home the grand prize, cbd oil no high The Cheesecake Factory has made the CSPI’s short list for 11 years in a row. 

‘Americans are eating out more than ever before,’ CSPI senior nutritionist Lindsay Moyer said in a statement. 

‘So when restaurant chains are serving up 2,000 calories or more on a single plate, it’s easy to see why people continue to struggle with overweight, obesity, and diet-related diseases.’   

Other notable mentions on the list included  Worst Cinematic Snack, which went to AMC Theatre’s Bavarian Legend pretzel. 

Coming in at a pound and a half, the movie snack The 9-inch-wide pretzel has a day’s calories (1,920), three-quarters of a day’s saturated fat (15 grams) and more than three days’ worth of sodium (7,600 mg), according to AJC.  

Chili’s Grill & Bar’s Honey-chipotle Chicken Crispers & Waffles were also awarded Least Creative Mashup, with the center saying the meal was ‘like eating five Krispy Kreme glazed doughnuts smothered in 30 McDonald’s Chicken McNuggets and five packets of barbecue sauce.’
